Cozy Christmas Under the Mistletoe

My wonderful roommates and myself have been working hard to keep in the Christmas spirit despite the fact that financially we feel desperate, and we are all working extra hard and long hours to keep afloat here in NYC. We figured we should spread the love and cheer cultivated here in Apt. 2L with our lovely friends who we don't get to see often enough. The party we hosted was a much bigger success than we could have imagined. I provided a few goodies, as well as our friend Tyler who baked some yummy goody bars and supplied the warmth in our hot toddies (not the boiled water!). We have the greatest friends here in NY; Lucas served as our toddy maker, while the wonderful Ginny provided her hostesses with the most magical of Christmas crowns with real greenery and real holly berries- (pictured above on Savannah's and my head). Ginny also provided the entertainment of the night- good old fashioned mistletoe!! It became a game- my roommate Blake and our friend Peter had a kiss-off. Pete champed Blake racking up 17 kisses vs. Blake's 5. Our friend John brought music later in the evening and of course our friends brought the dancing! I love sharing my home and my cooking with friends, I think I have inherited this from my mother, the hostess with the mostess!! I can't wait for our next get- together.

Ginny B. Stelling is also responsible for this beautiful photography. She truly captured the warmth in our apartment that night.

First Snow Fall

After a good day of cleaning, crafting and cooking- I have been rewarded with snow!! I am so happy about it. If you live in a place where there is no snow (like my Floridian family), you should check out this fantastic interactive site, Snow Days by Popular Front. Meggs shared this with me and I am obsessed. Soon I will be making my own paper snowflakes to decorate this tiny New York apt with. Happy Snow to all!

AR for Arkansas not Arizona

I have just returned from a very extended weekend in North Little Rock, AR. I was there visiting my sister, Afton and her husband Samuel. I also have a few dear friends from the Little Rock area, so I was able to catch up with everyone in just one trip. Here I want to share with you, my favorite day in AR. After a good day of junking with sweet Meggs and her dear sister K.K. (AR treasures, next post), Afton and I headed home to pack up Thanksgiving leftovers to take out to her and Samuel's property to have a picnic. The weather was perfect on this Saturday afternoon in Little Rock's country side. After our lunch, A & S showed me around their 5 acres of land. They have a creek, a thicket, a rock wall and lots and lots of trees. One day, they will have a small A-Frame house sitting like so (pictured above). Afton and Sam own the book shown as a source for inspiration. I can't wait to visit again, and hopefully next time I can sleep in the loft of the A-Frame. At the end of our day, Samuel entertained Afton and I by doing dangerous stunts on the hay bails. What a great AR day!!
Thank you, Afton, Samuel, The Boultinghouse Family, The Riley Family, and the Bennett Girls for making my trip so worth while- I am officially a fan of AR.
xoxo
